A "baker's dozen" of 13 sessions
(9 cooking classes, 4 enrichment gatherings)


Time: Selected Mondays, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Location: Congregation Shir Tikvah
Cost: $360 for the series, individual sessions at $40 each, all recipe ingredients included plus a limited-edition keepsake cookbook for those enrolling in the entire series.

Session 1: November 11

Dish: Kugel (Noodle Pudding)
Holiday: Shabbat
Description: Create a sweet kugel, served at holidays and Shabbat.

Session 2: December 9

Dishes: Latkes, Beet Latkes and Sufganiyot with multiple fillings. 
Holiday: Hanukkah 
Description: Create two kinds of fried foods for a Hanukkah table.  These latkes freeze beautifully from personal experience

Session 3: December 16:

Virtual Event: Chanukah Recipe, chef's demonstration on Zoom

Session 4: January 13

Dish: Challah Bread (with quick rise yeast)
Holiday: Shabbat and Rosh Hashanah
Description: Make dough to take home, braid dough that we have made in advance.  Have examples and photos of 3, 4 ,5 strand challah. Various fillings/ toppings.

January 20 possible make-up day for inclement weather, if needed

Session 5: February 10

Dish: Matzah Ball Soup
Holiday: Shabbat
Description: Learn to make fluffy matzah balls (sinker and floater) in the same soup base.

Session 6: February 17:

Live Event: Wine tasting with hors d-oeuvres

Session 7: March 10

Dish: Hamentashen Assembly Line (Haman’s Hat)
Holiday: Purim
Description: Create these triangular pastries filled with sweet and savory fillings, a traditional part of the Purim experience.

March 17 possible make-up day for inclement weather, if needed

Session 8: April 7

Dish: Charoset (Fruit and Nut Mixture)
Holiday: Pesakh
Description: A sweet, symbolic dish that represents mortar. We can also offer a nut-free version

Session 9: April 14

Dish: Brisket with Caramelized Onions
Holiday: Pesakh
Description: Learn how to prep and marinade slow-cooked brisket in a mini version. 

Session 10: May 12

Dish:  Cheesecake
Holiday: Shavuot
Description: Cheesecake baking, honoring the tradition of dairy dishes for Shavuot. Must be baked at home, will need a springform pan. 

Session 11: May 12:

Virtual Event: Shavuot Recipe, chef's demonstration on Zoom

Session 12: June 9

Dish: Israeli Salad
Holiday: Tu B’Shvat (New Year for Trees)
Description: This is a very quick dish with lots of chopping/preparing 


Session 13: June 16

Live Event: Potluck celebration and cookbook release
