Tikkun Olam Project

TOP  identifies, supports and coordinates social and environmental justice actions.  Our aim is to inform the Shir Tikvah community of opportunities to engage in social and environmental justice.

Membership in Congregation Shir Tikvah is not required to participate in TOP related activities. All are open to members, their families and friends.

ONGOING ACTIVITIES

Providing lay leaders to conduct Torah Study at the Women's Correctional Facility at Coffee Creek.  Contact Charlie Rosenblum for more information.

 

Black Lives (Still) Matter: Making a difference starts with listening. Since Michael Brown was murdered by police in Ferguson MO in 2014, we who are Shir Tikvah have sought out ways to support the Movement for Black Lives. For upcoming events and more information go to the Race Talks PDX website.

OUR MISSION

 

TOP will:

Receive and review invitations to endorse, sponsor and co-sponsor events, petitions and other community actions;

Advise the Board of Directors (BOD) about proposed actions;

Educate ourselves and others on TOP initiatives;

Plan congregation-supported TOP initiatives in conjunction with staff and BOD and 

Represent Shir TIkvah in local communal social and environmental events
