Tikkun Olam Project

TOP  identifies, supports and coordinates social and environmental justice actions.  Our aim is to inform the Shir Tikvah community of opportunities to engage in social and environmental justice.

Membership in Congregation Shir Tikvah is not required to participate in TOP related activities. All are open to members, their families and friends.

TIME-SENSITIVE ACTIVITIES

Sept. 10 Join with other Jewish communities to Repair the Sea by participating in a Reverse Tashlich. Shir Tikvah will be cleaning up the beaches on Sauvie Island. This is a very family friendly event. We will meet at the start of the public beaches on the Columbia River side of the Island at 10 o'clock and work for about two hours. We will have some supplies available. You should bring water bottles, gloves and grabbers if you have them. We will also have parking permits. Please register for this event at this link https://www.repairthesea.org/rt2023. Register as a participant.

ONGOING ACTIVITIES

Providing lay leaders to conduct Torah Study at the Women's Correctional Facility at Coffee Creek.  Contact Charlie Rosenblum for more information.

Black Lives (Still) Matter: Making a difference starts with listening. Since Michael Brown was murdered by police in Ferguson MO in 2014, we who are Shir Tikvah have sought out ways to support the Movement for Black Lives. For upcoming events and more information go to the Race Talks PDX website.
