ME AND WHITE SUPREMACY:
A 28 Day Challenge

      A Members-Only “Al Heyt” workshop
for the month of Elul

Starting August 26th, with weekly check-in
             meetings through September

     6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

In Judaism we say that if you can get to the root of the problem, you can eliminate it entirely. That is the goal of the "Al Heyt" prayer that we say so many times during Yom Kippur services, to not just call out the mistakes, but identify the roots.

The root of so much injustice in our society is white supremacy.  Author Layla Saad says when she “ran a free month-long Instagram challenge during the summer of 2018, she had no idea it would become an international cultural movement. Thousands of people from around the world were galvanized by the #meandwhitesupremacy challenge, examining and owning responsibility for the ways in which they uphold white supremacy.”

Shir Tikvah will spend the month of Elul working through Saad's Me and White Supremacy: A 28-Day Challenge to Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor.  The goal is to continue working to dismantle white supremacy, moving from white fragility toward anti-racist resilience, and examining the intersections of Jewishness and white identity that many of us navigate.

This workshop is open to members, and is intended for Jews who experience any amount of white privilege. It will be lightly hosted by Derekh Travers beginning on August 26. These conversations will culminate in a Yom Kippur discussion.
